Complaint Description
To: The Divisional Railway Manager, Central Railway, Mumbai CSMT Respected Sir/Madam, I, Mrs. Rekha Itagi, wish to lodge a formal complaint regarding damage caused by rats to our luggage while travelling by the Hospet–CSMT Express on 15 October 2026. Journey Details: - Name of Complainant: Mrs. Rekha Itagi - PNR Number: 4143118638 - Date of Journey: 15 October 2026 - Class: 3AC - Coach and Berth: B1, Berth No. 35 - Route: Almatti to Mumbai CSMT - Contact Number: 9449526826 During the journey, rats chewed and damaged the following belongings: 1. My husband's bag worth approximately ₹2,000. 2. My leather sling bag worth approximately ₹4,000. The total estimated financial loss is ₹6,000. It is highly disappointing that passengers have to suffer financial loss due to the presence of rats inside railway coaches. This incident raises serious concerns regarding the cleanliness, pest control and maintenance of the train. In view of the above, I request the railway authorities to kindly sanction compensation of ₹6,000, representing the full estimated value of the damaged belongings, and reimburse this amount at the earliest. I also request that the incident be investigated and that immediate pest-control and maintenance measures be taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Photographs of the damaged bags and a copy of the railway ticket can be provided as supporting evidence. I am willing to submit any additional documents or information required to process my claim.
