Train Delay, Passenger Harassment and Refund Request – Train 22159
Complaint Description
Subject: Formal Complaint Against Train Delay and Request for Refund/Compensation – Train No. 22159 Dear Indian Railways Team, I wish to raise a formal complaint regarding my journey on Train No. 22159 (CSMT Chennai Express) on 28 October 2026. As shown in my attached screenshot, the train was significantly delayed, causing considerable inconvenience. I had worked a night shift and was already exhausted, having barely slept. I paid ₹641 for my ticket and had specifically chosen a lower berth because I have difficulty sleeping and needed adequate rest during my journey. However, another passenger suddenly started shouting at me and demanding that I get up because she wanted to use the berth. When I tried to rest again, the TTE told me that passengers were allowed to sleep only between 10 PM and 6 AM. I understand that railway rules must be followed, but the way this situation was handled caused me additional distress after an already exhausting and delayed journey. I request Indian Railways to investigate the train delay and the handling of this incident, clarify my rights regarding my allotted berth, and consider my eligibility for a refund of ₹641 or appropriate compensation under the applicable railway rules. I paid for my journey expecting a reasonable level of service and respectful treatment. I request that my complaint be investigated and that a written response be provided regarding the action taken and my refund eligibility.
