THEFT/ ATTACK/ INJURY/ FEAR
Complaint Description
Dear Railway Officer: This is Jyoti Chordia from Rajasthan. I have travelled with Indian Railways all my life and have always been proud of the same. Unfortunately, this is the first time I was extremely disappointed due to a shocking theft that took place on this trip between Udaipur to Delhi. I was sort of awake through the night on the side lower berth of the last cabin due to the bright light right outside the last cabin. Luckily, I just kept the phone under the pillow a few minutes back from the incident. It was around 4.45am in the morning when we were close to leaving Mathura station, one unknown person walked into our cabin and picked over my back pack. While he tried to run away, I pulled the backpack again but he applied his manpower to pull harder due to which I fell on the floor while losing the grip of the bag which led him to flea away with my bag. I shouted, cried for help when my son, husband and several others came to my rescue but no sign of the thief as he jumped out of the running train. While exactly this happened, the doors were properly open as well with attenders taking no responsibility of the same. With NO delay, to our surprise, two inspectors were there right after 2-3 minutes with no notification asking about the incident. One of them name is Avaneesh Babu that took all the details of my belongings that included cash, jewelry, personal items, novels, reading glasses, shawl and most importantly my 25+ year old friend Ganesha. We were also informed that most of these thefts take place around that station especially with a team work including the policemen. However, we do not agree with that and have high hopes that the police department will get some information/ recover our items back to us. MORE THAN THE VALUABLES, THIS INCIDENT HAS LEFT US WITH FEAR THAT SUCH INCIDENTS CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE/ EVERYONE ONE OR THE OTHER DAY AND IF IN FACT IT IS A TEAMWORK INCLUDING THE POLICEMAN, THEN WE ARE IN A COUNTRY WITH NO VALUE OR BELIEF TOWARDS HUMANITY. WE HAVE BACK TO BACK RAILWAY TRIPS LINED UP THAT CAN BE CANCELLED IN A SPLIT SECOND AND DECIDE TO FLY AS MONEY HAS NEVER BEEN THE REASON FOR US FORTUNATELY. HOWEVER, WE WILL CONTINUE OUR RAILWAY JOURNEYS TO TRULY FIX THIS PROBLEM ONCE IN FOR ALL WHILE INITIATING THIS ALERT & AWARENESS TO ALL THE MIGHTY TRAVELLERS TO ENSURE THEY ARE SAFE, SECURED AND FEARLESS TO TRAVEL ANYWEHERE WITH THE INDIAN RAILAYS. Thank you for reviewing this case and sincerely request you to initiate an investigation between the cabin crew, ticket master, policemen on duty thoroughly to let us know the outcome of the same so we can either let the fear go away from us for relaxed travel or pray god for a safe travel each time with the fear within us.
