Complaint Description
Subject: Urgent Complaint: Inhumane and Unrealistic RAC Seating Policy for Post-Surgery Patient (PNR: 4764888806) To, The General Manager / Railway Board / Customer Care, Indian Railways Respected Sir/Madam, I am writing this with immense distress and disappointment regarding the deeply flawed and impractical RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) allocation policy of Indian Railways. I am a recent post-surgery/operation patient, traveling with my family on Train No. 12864 (SMVB HOWRAH EXP) on 23rd September 2026 under PNR: 4764888806. My booking details are as follows: Passenger 1: SAYAN DAS (RAC/M2/47) Passenger 2: TARUN DAS (RAC/M2/47) Passenger 3: SUPRIYA DAS (RAC/M2/55) As per Railway rules, a single Side Lower berth (M2-47) has been allotted to two passengers (Sayan Das and Tarun Das) under RAC status. To make matters worse, official rules state that during daytime (6:00 AM to 10:00 PM), the Side Upper berth passenger (Seat No. 48) also holds the right to sit on the same Side Lower berth. This effectively means that THREE adult passengers are expected to squeeze into ONE narrow Side Lower berth during daytime for a long journey of over 33 hours. As a patient recovering from surgery, it is physically impossible, hazardous to health, and utterly inhumane to share half a seat, let alone squeeze with a third passenger. The current RAC seating algorithm defies basic physical logic and human dignity. My Urgent Demands: Immediate Intervention: Kindly consider my medical emergency and allot full, confirmed berths for our journey on medical grounds. Policy Review: Re-evaluate this absurd RAC seating rule that forces multiple adults onto a single side berth during daytime. I request you to kindly intervene immediately and direct the concerned TTE/Divisional authorities to accommodate us humanely. PNR: 4764888806 Train: 12864 / SMVB HOWRAH EXP Date of Journey: 23-09-2026 Name: TARUN DAS Yours sincerely, TARUN DAS
